Description
Indication & Scope
Deanxit® Flupentixol and Melitracen Tablets provides management of mild‑to‑moderate depression and anxiety. It is also applied for neurasthenia, psychogenic depression, depressive neurosis, masked depression, psychosomatic disorders accompanied by anxiety and apathy, menopausal depression, dysphoria and depressive mood among alcohol‑dependent or drug‑addicted individuals.
- Mechanism: This fixed‑dose combination exerts synergistic central nervous system regulation. Low‑dose flupentixol blocks presynaptic dopamine autoreceptors, raising dopamine transmission to deliver anxiolytic and mood‑lifting effects. Melitracen, a tricyclic agent, inhibits neuronal re‑uptake of serotonin and norepinephrine within synaptic clefts, improving depressed mood.
- Drug class: Combined psychotropic preparation consisting of a thioxanthene neuroleptic and a tricyclic antidepressant; prescription‑only psychotherapeutic medicine.
- Clinical use: Clinically prescribed for short‑term symptomatic control of mild‑moderate anxiety and depressive episodes, as well as mood disturbances secondary to somatic or psychosomatic diseases. It is frequently used to relieve emotional discomfort accompanied by functional somatic complaints under physician supervision.
