Description
Indication & Scope
Tritace® is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor indicated to reduce the risk of myocardial infarction, stroke, and cardiovascular death in patients 55 years of age or older who are at high cardiovascular risk because of coronary artery disease, stroke, peripheral arterial disease, or diabetes with at least one additional cardiovascular risk factor. It is also indicated for the treatment of hypertension, heart failure following acute myocardial infarction, and certain patients with proteinuric renal disease.
- Mechanism: Ramipril is converted to the active metabolite ramiprilat, which inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), reducing the formation of angiotensin II, decreasing aldosterone secretion, and promoting vasodilation.
- Drug class: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor.
- Clinical use: Prevention of major cardiovascular events in high-risk patients; treatment of hypertension, heart failure after myocardial infarction, and selected renal diseases.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: The dose should be individualized according to the indication and patient response. For cardiovascular risk reduction, treatment is usually initiated at 2.5 mg once daily and gradually increased to a maintenance dose of 10 mg once daily as tolerated.
Time: Take once daily, with or without food, preferably at the same time each day.
Instructions for use: Swallow the tablet with water. The scored tablet may be divided if necessary. Blood pressure, renal function, and serum potassium should be monitored during treatment, particularly after initiation or dose adjustment.
Interaction: Ramipril may increase the risk of hyperkalemia when combined with potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, or angiotensin receptor blockers. NSAIDs may reduce its antihypertensive effect and increase the risk of renal impairment, while diuretics and other antihypertensive agents may enhance the blood pressure-lowering effect.
Side effects: Common adverse reactions include dry cough, hypotension, dizziness, headache, hyperkalemia, impaired renal function, fatigue, gastrointestinal discomfort, and, rarely, angioedema.
