 Indication & Scope

Baraclude® Entecavir Tablets provides long-term antiviral treatment for chronic hepatitis B virus infection in adults and adolescents with compensated liver function and active viral replication.

  • Mechanism: Nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor; competitively blocks HBV reverse transcriptase to stop viral DNA synthesis and replication.
  • Drug class: Nucleoside analog anti-hepatitis B antiviral agent.
  • Clinical use: Long-term suppression of HBV viral load, reduction of liver inflammation, slowing liver fibrosis and cirrhosis progression for chronic hepatitis B patients.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: Adults with normal renal function: 0.5mg once daily; lamivudine-resistant cases: 1mg once daily.

 

Time: Taken on an empty stomach at the same fixed time every day, at least 2 hours before or after meals.

 

Instructions for use: Swallow whole tablets; never interrupt long-term treatment arbitrarily to avoid viral rebound and drug resistance; monitor HBV DNA and liver function regularly.

 

Interaction: Renally excreted drugs may alter entecavir clearance when used together; renal function monitoring is required for combined regimens.

 

Side effects:

1. Common: mild dizziness, fatigue, nausea, transient elevated transaminase.

2. Rare severe: lactic acidosis, severe hepatomegaly with steatosis.
