Description
Indication & Scope
- Mechanism
Ainuovirine is a non-nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor that allosterically inhibits HIV-1 reverse transcriptase; lamivudine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate are nucleoside reverse transcriptase analogues that compete for incorporation into viral DNA and terminate chain elongation. The three components act synergistically to block multiple steps of HIV-1 replication and lower peripheral blood viral load. - Drug class
Oral fixed-dose combination antiretroviral medicine, compound preparation consisting of NNRTI and NRTIs for HIV-1 infection. - Clinical use
Multi-center clinical trials demonstrate durable viral suppression, a high genetic barrier to drug resistance and well-tolerated safety profile; administered orally once daily without food restriction. It is an independently developed domestic single-pill triple regimen for HIV-1 treatment-naive adults.
