Indication & Scope
Hydrochlorothiazide Tablets are a prescription thiazide diuretic indicated for the treatment of hypertension and edema associated with congestive heart failure, hepatic cirrhosis, corticosteroid or estrogen therapy, and renal disorders. The product is also indicated for selected patients with nephrogenic diabetes insipidus and for reducing recurrent calcium-containing kidney stones.
- Mechanism: Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits sodium and chloride reabsorption in the distal convoluted tubule, increasing urinary excretion of sodium and water while reducing extracellular fluid volume and blood pressure.
- Drug class: Thiazide diuretic.
- Clinical use: Treatment of hypertension and edema; adjunctive therapy for nephrogenic diabetes insipidus and prevention of recurrent calcium nephrolithiasis.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: Adults: 25–50 mg once or twice daily for edema; 25 mg once daily initially for hypertension, adjusted according to clinical response.
Time: Take orally in the morning, with or without food.
Instructions for use: Swallow tablets with water. Monitor blood pressure, renal function, serum electrolytes, blood glucose, and uric acid during treatment.
Interaction: Use caution with digoxin, lithium, NSAIDs, corticosteroids, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, and other antihypertensive or potassium-depleting agents.
Side effects: Common adverse reactions include hypokalemia, hyponatremia, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, hyperuricemia, hyperglycemia, gastrointestinal discomfort, photosensitivity, and skin rash.
