Montelukast Sodium Tablets provides prophylaxis and long-term treatment of asthma; relief of allergic rhinitis symptoms; prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm.
- Mechanism: Selective leukotriene receptor antagonist that blocks cysteinyl leukotriene receptors on airway smooth muscle, inhibiting bronchoconstriction, mucus secretion and airway inflammatory infiltration.
- Drug class: Leukotriene receptor antagonist, anti-asthmatic anti-inflammatory agent.
- Clinical use: Daily maintenance asthma prevention; combined or monotherapy for allergic rhinitis; premedication before strenuous exercise.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: 10mg once daily at bedtime for adults over 15 years old.
Time: Once daily, preferably taken before sleep every night.
Instructions for use: Swallow whole with water, do not chew; take daily regardless of symptom fluctuation; not for stopping ongoing asthma attacks.
Interaction: Phenytoin and rifampin accelerate montelukast metabolism; no interaction with inhaled steroids or short-acting bronchodilators.
Side effects:

2. Rare: sleep disturbance, mood changes, upper respiratory tract infection.
