Indication & Scope
QuSai® (Cefotaxime Sodium for Injection) is a prescription third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic indicated for the treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, including lower respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, bacterial meningitis, septicemia, intra-abdominal infections, pelvic infections, skin and soft tissue infections, bone and joint infections, and genital tract infections. It is also used for perioperative surgical prophylaxis and is a preferred option for pediatric bacterial meningitis.
- Mechanism: Cefotaxime inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), resulting in bacterial cell lysis and death.
- Drug class: Third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic.
- Clinical use: Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, bacterial meningitis, septicemia, and perioperative infection prophylaxis.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: Adults: 1–2 g by IM injection or IV infusion every 8–12 hours; severe infections may require up to 12 g/day in divided doses.
Time: Administer every 8–12 hours as prescribed.
Instructions for use: Reconstitute before administration. Administer by deep IM injection or slow IV injection/infusion. Do not mix with sodium bicarbonate solutions.
Interaction: Probenecid may increase cefotaxime exposure. Concomitant use with aminoglycosides or loop diuretics may increase nephrotoxicity. Warfarin may increase bleeding risk.
Side effects: Common adverse reactions include injection-site pain, diarrhea, nausea, rash, elevated liver enzymes, eosinophilia, hypersensitivity reactions, and rare severe allergic reactions.
