Indication & Scope
Sifrol® is a prescription non-ergoline dopamine agonist indicated for the treatment of adult patients with idiopathic Parkinson’s disease throughout the disease course. It can be used as monotherapy without levodopa or in combination with levodopa, particularly in patients with end-of-dose deterioration or “on-off” motor fluctuations during advanced disease.It is also indicated for the symptomatic treatment of moderate-to-severe idiopathic restless legs syndrome (RLS) in adults.
- Mechanism: Pramipexole is a selective dopamine D2/D3 receptor agonist that stimulates central dopaminergic pathways to improve motor symptoms and sensory symptoms associated with Parkinson’s disease and RLS.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: For Parkinson’s disease, the initial dose is 0.125 mg three times daily, gradually increased according to response and tolerability. The maximum recommended daily dose is 4.5 mg. For restless legs syndrome, the usual starting dose is 0.125 mg once daily before bedtime.
Time: Take orally at regular intervals. It may be taken with or without food.
Instructions for use: Swallow tablets with water. Do not discontinue treatment abruptly; dose reduction should be gradual under medical supervision.
Interaction: Pramipexole may interact with levodopa, antipsychotics, sedatives, alcohol, antihypertensive agents, and renal cationic transport inhibitors.
Side effects: Common adverse reactions include nausea, dizziness, somnolence, insomnia, constipation, hallucinations, orthostatic hypotension, fatigue, and peripheral edema.
