Indication & Scope
Telmisartan and Amlodipine Tablets is indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adult patients. It is specially applied to patients whose blood pressure cannot be effectively controlled by single-agent antihypertensive therapy with either telmisartan or amlodipine alone.
- Mechanism: Telmisartan selectively blocks angiotensin II type 1 receptors, inhibiting vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion to reduce peripheral vascular resistance and lower blood pressure. Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that inhibits calcium ion influx into vascular smooth muscle cells, dilating peripheral arteries and reducing vascular resistance. The two ingredients exert synergistic antihypertensive effects through different pharmacological pathways.
- Drug class: Combination of Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB) and Dihydropyridine Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB).
- Clinical use: Clinically used for second-line antihypertensive treatment of essential hypertension. It simplifies medication regimens for patients with poor single-drug blood pressure control, improves medication adherence, and achieves stable long-term blood pressure regulation.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: The dosage is individualized based on the patient’s blood pressure condition. The usual maintenance dose is one tablet taken once daily.
Time: Can be taken at any time of the day, with or without food, at a fixed daily time for consistent efficacy.
Instructions for use: Administer orally with a sufficient amount of water. Do not chew, crush or split the tablet. Strictly follow the fixed daily dosage without arbitrary dose increase or decrease.
Interaction: Concurrent use with potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements may cause hyperkalemia. Combined use with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may increase renal function damage risk. Co-administration with other antihypertensive drugs may enhance hypotensive effects.
Side effects:
1. Common adverse reactions include dizziness, peripheral edema, fatigue, headache and flushing.
2. Rare adverse reactions include hypotension, gastrointestinal discomfort, muscle pain and abnormal liver function indicators.
