Indication & Scope
TangRui® is a prescription oral meglitinide antidiabetic agent indicated, in combination with diet and exercise, to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with metformin when additional blood glucose control is required.
- Mechanism: Nateglinide stimulates rapid, glucose-dependent insulin secretion from pancreatic β-cells by closing ATP-sensitive potassium (KATP) channels, helping reduce postprandial blood glucose excursions.
- Drug class: Meglitinide (rapid-acting insulin secretagogue).
- Clinical use: Treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus inadequately controlled with diet and exercise alone, either alone or combined with metformin.

Recommended Dose: The usual starting dose is 60 mg or 120 mg taken three times daily before main meals. The dose should be individualized according to blood glucose response, with a maximum recommended dose of 120 mg per meal.
Time: Take 1–15 minutes before each main meal. Skip the dose if a meal is skipped.
Instructions for use: Take orally with water before meals. Use together with diet and exercise. Do not take an extra dose if a meal is missed, and do not double the next dose. Nateglinide may be used alone or in combination with metformin when additional glycemic control is needed.
Interaction: The glucose-lowering effect may be enhanced by other antidiabetic agents, insulin, salicylates, or beta-blockers, while corticosteroids, thyroid hormones, thiazide diuretics, and certain sympathomimetics may reduce its effectiveness. CYP2C9 and CYP3A4 inhibitors or inducers may alter nateglinide exposure.
