Ganagliflozin Proline Tablets helps to adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

  • Mechanism: SGLT-2 inhibitor; blocks renal sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 to reduce glucose reabsorption, inducing urinary glucose excretion and lowering blood glucose.
  • Drug class: Sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 (SGLT-2) inhibitor, oral antidiabetic.
  • Clinical use: Monotherapy or combination with metformin to lower HbA1c, reduce blood pressure and weight in T2DM adults.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: 5 mg oral once daily; maximum 10 mg daily if glycemic control insufficient.

 

Time: Administer in the morning, with or without meals.

 

Instructions for use:

1. Swallow whole tablet with water; no crushing.

2. Maintain adequate daily water intake to prevent dehydration.

3. Monitor renal function before and during treatment.

4. Discontinue if genital/urinary severe infection occurs.

 

Interaction:

1. Diuretics increase dehydration and hypotension risk.

2. Insulin/sulfonylureas raise hypoglycemia risk (dose reduction required).

3. CYP3A4 modulators have minimal impact on drug exposure.

 

Side effects:

1. Common: Genital mycotic infection, polyuria, thirst, fatigue, hypotension.
2. Severe: Diabetic ketoacidosis, acute kidney injury, Fournier’s gangrene, hypovolemia.
