Description
Indication & Scope
JinLiShu® (Amoxicillin and Clavulanate Potassium Tablets) is indicated for the treatment of bacterial infections caused by susceptible β-lactamase-producing organisms, including selected infections of the upper and lower respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft tissues, and middle ear. The combination of amoxicillin with clavulanate extends antibacterial coverage against bacteria that produce β-lactamases capable of inactivating amoxicillin.
- Mechanism: Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. Clavulanate inhibits certain bacterial β-lactamases, protecting amoxicillin from enzymatic degradation and restoring its antibacterial activity against susceptible β-lactamase-producing organisms.
- Drug class: Aminopenicillin/β-lactamase inhibitor combination antibiotic.
- Clinical use: Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections, including respiratory tract, urinary tract, skin and soft-tissue, and otitis media infections, according to the approved product labeling.
