Indication & Scope
MONOPRIL® is a prescription angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor indicated for the treatment of hypertension as monotherapy or in combination with other antihypertensive agents. It is also indicated for the treatment of heart failure in combination with diuretics to improve exercise tolerance and reduce the risk of heart failure hospitalization.
- Mechanism: Fosinopril is converted to its active metabolite, fosinoprilat, which inhibits angiotensin-converting enzyme, reducing the formation of angiotensin II, promoting vasodilation, decreasing aldosterone secretion, and lowering blood pressure.
- Drug class: Angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: The usual starting dose is 10 mg once daily. The maintenance dose is 10–40 mg once daily, with a maximum recommended dose of 40 mg daily.
Time: Take once daily, with or without food.
Instructions for use: Swallow the tablet with water at the same time each day. Blood pressure, renal function, and serum potassium should be monitored during treatment.
Interaction: Potassium supplements, potassium-sparing diuretics, NSAIDs, lithium, and other antihypertensive agents may increase the risk of adverse effects or alter treatment response.
Side effects: Common adverse reactions include dry cough, dizziness, headache, fatigue, hypotension, nausea, and hyperkalemia. Serious reactions include angioedema, severe hypotension, renal impairment, and allergic reactions.
