LACIPIL® is a prescription dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker indicated for the treatment of adult hypertension, used alone or in combination with other antihypertensive agents such as beta-blockers, diuretics, or ACE inhibitors. Lacidipine provides long-acting blood pressure control and may offer vascular protective effects through arterial vasodilation.

Mechanism: Lacidipine blocks L-type calcium channels in vascular smooth muscle, reducing calcium influx, producing arterial relaxation, lowering peripheral vascular resistance, and decreasing blood pressure.
Drug class: Dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker (CCB).
Clinical use: Long-term management of adult hypertension and cardiovascular risk reduction through stable blood pressure control.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: The usual starting dose is 4 mg once daily. If blood pressure control is insufficient after 3–4 weeks, the dose may be increased to 6 mg daily. The maximum dose is 8 mg once daily.

Time: Take once daily in the morning, with or without food.

Instructions for use: Swallow the tablet whole with water. Continue regular blood pressure monitoring during treatment. Dose adjustment may be required in patients with liver impairment.

Interaction: CYP3A4 inhibitors may increase lacidipine exposure, while CYP3A4 inducers may reduce its antihypertensive effect. Concomitant use with other antihypertensive drugs may enhance blood pressure reduction.

Side effects: Common adverse reactions include headache, flushing, dizziness, palpitations, peripheral edema, and fatigue. Rare reactions include gingival hyperplasia, hypotension, rash, and angioedema.
