Indication & Scope
XianQi® is a prescription β-lactam/β-lactamase inhibitor combination indicated for the treatment of susceptible moderate to severe bacterial infections, including community- and hospital-acquired pneumonia, complicated urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, skin and soft tissue infections, pelvic infections, and empiric therapy for febrile neutropenia.
- Mechanism: Piperacillin inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis, while tazobactam irreversibly inhibits β-lactamases, restoring antibacterial activity against β-lactamase-producing organisms.
- Drug class: Extended-spectrum penicillin combined with a β-lactamase inhibitor.
- Clinical use: Treatment of susceptible moderate to severe polymicrobial and β-lactamase-producing bacterial infections.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: Administer 2.25–4.5 g by intravenous infusion every 6–8 hours, depending on the severity of infection and renal function.
Time: Infuse intravenously over at least 30 minutes.
Instructions for use: For intravenous use only. Adjust the dose in patients with renal impairment. Complete the prescribed treatment course to reduce antimicrobial resistance.
Interaction: Probenecid may increase piperacillin concentrations. Monitor anticoagulants and methotrexate when used concomitantly. Do not mix with aminoglycosides in the same infusion solution.
Side effects: Common adverse reactions include diarrhea, nausea, rash, injection-site reactions, and elevated liver enzymes. Serious adverse reactions include hypersensitivity, Clostridioides difficile–associated diarrhea, hematologic abnormalities, and seizures in susceptible patients.
