 Indication & Scope

Jascayd® is a prescription phosphodiesterase 4B (PDE4B) inhibitor indicated for the treatment of adult patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). It is also approved for the treatment of adult patients with progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF).

  • Mechanism: Nerandomilast is a preferential phosphodiesterase 4B (PDE4B) inhibitor that increases intracellular cAMP levels, reducing pro-fibrotic signaling and inflammatory cytokine production to slow the progression of pulmonary fibrosis.
  • Drug class: PDE4B inhibitor.
  • Clinical use: Treatment of adult patients with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF) and progressive pulmonary fibrosis (PPF).

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: The recommended dose is 18 mg orally twice daily, approximately 12 hours apart, with or without food. For patients who are unable to tolerate 18 mg twice daily, the dose may be reduced to 9 mg twice daily as recommended in the approved prescribing information.

 

Time: Tablets should be taken twice daily at approximately 12-hour intervals and swallowed whole or dispersed in water according to the approved prescribing information.

 

Instructions for use: Nerandomilast may be taken with or without food. No dose adjustment is required for elderly patients or for patients with mild to moderate hepatic impairment or mild to severe renal impairment. Treatment should be continued unless unacceptable toxicity or discontinuation is clinically indicated.

 

Interaction: Nerandomilast is primarily metabolized by CYP3A4. Concomitant use with strong CYP3A inhibitors or inducers may alter drug exposure and should be managed according to the approved prescribing information.

 

Side effects: Common adverse reactions include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal pain, decreased appetite, headache, weight loss, dizziness, and fatigue. Most adverse events are mild to moderate, with treatment discontinuation rates comparable to placebo in clinical trials.
