FLUIMUCIL® is a prescription mucolytic indicated for the treatment of patients with chronic respiratory diseases accompanied by excessive thick mucus, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), chronic bronchitis, and pulmonary emphysema. It helps reduce sputum viscosity and facilitates mucus clearance from the airways.

Mechanism: Acetylcysteine breaks disulfide bonds within mucoproteins, reducing mucus viscosity and making sputum easier to expectorate. It also replenishes intracellular glutathione, providing antioxidant protection against oxidative stress.
Drug Class: Mucolytic Agent.
Clinical Use: Management of thick, difficult-to-expectorate sputum associated with chronic respiratory diseases.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: Adults should take one 0.6 g tablet orally once or twice daily, or as directed by a physician.

Time: The tablets can be taken with or without food. When used together with antibiotics, maintain an interval of at least 2 hours between medications.

Instructions for use: Swallow the tablet whole with water. The medicine may be taken with or without food. If used together with antibiotics, allow an interval of at least 2 hours between administrations. Do not exceed the recommended dose unless instructed by a healthcare professional.

Interaction: Acetylcysteine may reduce the activity of certain antibiotics when administered simultaneously; therefore, a dosing interval of at least 2 hours is recommended. It may increase the excretion of gold-containing medicines and may be used concomitantly with bronchodilators when clinically indicated.

Side effects: Common adverse reactions include nausea, vomiting, upper abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, and cough. Rare adverse reactions include skin rash, hypersensitivity, and bronchospasm. Patients with bronchial asthma should use this product with caution and discontinue treatment if bronchospasm occurs.
