ZhongNuoETa® (Ertapenem Sodium for Injection) is a prescription carbapenem antibiotic indicated for the treatment of moderate to severe infections caused by susceptible bacteria in adults. It is used for complicated intra-abdominal infections, complicated skin and skin structure infections, community-acquired pneumonia, complicated urinary tract infections, acute pelvic infections, and bacteremia associated with these infections.

Mechanism: Ertapenem inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), resulting in rapid bacterial cell death.
Drug class: Carbapenem antibiotic.
Clinical use: Treatment of susceptible moderate to severe bacterial infections and prevention of surgical site infections in elective colorectal surgery.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: Adults generally receive 1 g once daily. Patients with severe renal impairment may require 0.5 g once daily.

Time: Administer once daily by intravenous infusion over 30 minutes or by deep intramuscular injection. For surgical prophylaxis, administer 1 hour before incision.

Instructions for use: Administer by intravenous infusion or deep intramuscular injection. Do not dilute with dextrose-containing solutions. Adjust the dose in patients with renal impairment.

Interaction: Avoid concomitant use with valproic acid. Use cautiously with anticoagulants and other nephrotoxic medications.

Side effects: Diarrhea, nausea, headache, infusion-site reactions, rash, elevated liver enzymes, and hypersensitivity reactions.
