 Indication & Scope

Urief® (Silodosin Capsules) is a prescription selective α1A-adrenoceptor antagonist indicated for the treatment of the signs and symptoms of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), including urinary frequency, urgency, nocturia, weak urinary stream, hesitancy, and incomplete bladder emptying.

  • Mechanism: Silodosin selectively blocks α1A-adrenergic receptors in the prostate, bladder neck, and urethra, relaxing smooth muscle and improving urinary flow while minimizing effects on blood pressure.
  • Drug Class: Selective α1A-Adrenoceptor Antagonist.
  • Clinical Use: Symptomatic treatment of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) associated with benign prostatic hyperplasia.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: Take 4 mg twice daily, preferably after breakfast and dinner, swallowed whole with water.

 

Time: Do not crush, chew, or open the capsule. Take at approximately the same time each day.

 

Instructions for use: Mild renal impairment: No dose adjustment required. Moderate renal impairment: Dose reduction may be considered. Severe renal impairment (CrCl <30 mL/min): Contraindicated.

 

Interaction: Avoid concomitant use with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors (such as ketoconazole, itraconazole, clarithromycin, and ritonavir). Use caution when combined with antihypertensive agents or PDE5 inhibitors because of the potential for hypotension.

 

Side effects: Common adverse reactions include retrograde ejaculation, dizziness, orthostatic hypotension, nasal congestion, diarrhea, and reduced ejaculatory volume. Seek immediate medical attention if severe allergic reactions, syncope, or significant hypotension occur.
