Indication & Scope
Sevikar® Olmesartan Medoxomil and Amlodipine Besylate Tablets treats adult essential hypertension. It is applied to adult patients with unsatisfactory blood pressure control after single-agent treatment with olmesartan medoxomil or amlodipine alone.
- Mechanism: Olmesartan medoxomil is a potent long-acting angiotensin II receptor blocker that inhibits vasoconstriction and aldosterone secretion to reduce peripheral vascular resistance. Amlodipine is a dihydropyridine calcium channel blocker that dilates peripheral arteries. The two drugs exert synergistic and dual-pathway antihypertensive effects, with rapid onset and long duration of efficacy.
- Drug class: Compound Preparation of Angiotensin II Receptor Blocker (ARB) and Dihydropyridine Calcium Channel Blocker (CCB).
- Clinical use: Clinically used for standardized second-line treatment of adult essential hypertension, significantly improving blood pressure compliance of patients with poor single-drug treatment effect, and reducing cardiovascular risk caused by long-term uncontrolled hypertension.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: The standard maintenance dose is one tablet taken orally once daily, with individualized adjustment according to blood pressure level.
Time: Can be taken at any fixed time of the day, no food intake restriction.
Instructions for use: Swallow the tablet whole with sufficient water, do not crush or chew. Adhere to fixed daily medication time to ensure stable blood drug concentration and continuous antihypertensive effect.
Interaction: Combined with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics increases hyperkalemia risk. Concurrent use with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs may damage renal function. Combined with other antihypertensive drugs enhances hypotensive efficacy.
Side effects:
1. Common side effects include peripheral edema, dizziness, headache, fatigue and flushing.
2. Rare adverse reactions include orthostatic hypotension, gastrointestinal discomfort, muscle pain and abnormal liver function.
