 Indication & Scope

LuYiPing® is a prescription dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor indicated, together with diet and exercise, to improve glycemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus. It may be used as monotherapy or in combination with metformin, sulfonylureas, or insulin when additional glycemic control is needed.

  • Mechanism: Vildagliptin selectively inhibits DPP-4, increasing endogenous GLP-1 and GIP levels, thereby enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion and reducing glucagon release.
  • Drug class: DPP-4 inhibitor.
  • Clinical use: Treatment of adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus as monotherapy or in combination with other antidiabetic agents.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: The recommended dose is 50 mg once or twice daily depending on the treatment regimen. The maximum recommended daily dose is 100 mg.

 

Time: May be taken with or without food at the same time each day.

 

Instructions for use: Swallow the tablet whole with water. It may be used alone or in combination with metformin, insulin, or sulfonylureas. When used with a sulfonylurea, a lower sulfonylurea dose may be considered to reduce the risk of hypoglycemia.

 

Interaction: The risk of hypoglycemia may increase when used with insulin or sulfonylureas. Corticosteroids, thyroid hormones, thiazide diuretics, and sympathomimetics may reduce glycemic control. Liver function should be monitored during treatment.

 

Side effects: The most common adverse reactions include headache, dizziness, upper respiratory tract infection, nasopharyngitis, nausea, peripheral edema, arthralgia, and mild hypoglycemia when combined with insulin or sulfonylureas. Rare but serious adverse reactions include pancreatitis, elevated liver enzymes, angioedema, and bullous skin disorders.
