Indication & Scope
COAPROVEL® is a fixed-dose combination of irbesartan and hydrochlorothiazide indicated for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults whose blood pressure is not adequately controlled with irbesartan or hydrochlorothiazide alone. The combination provides complementary antihypertensive effects through blockade of the renin–angiotensin system and promotion of sodium and water excretion.
- Mechanism: Irbesartan selectively blocks angiotensin II AT₁ receptors, reducing vasoconstriction and aldosterone-mediated sodium retention. Hydrochlorothiazide inhibits renal sodium and chloride reabsorption, increasing urinary sodium and water excretion. Their complementary actions provide additive blood-pressure reduction.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: 1 tablet once daily (150 mg/12.5 mg). The dose may be adjusted according to blood pressure response.
Time: Take orally once daily, with or without food.
Instructions for use: Take at approximately the same time each day. If additional blood pressure control is required, dosage adjustment should be performed under medical supervision.
Interaction: NSAIDs may reduce the antihypertensive effect and increase the risk of renal impairment. Lithium may increase to potentially toxic levels. Potassium supplements and potassium-sparing diuretics may increase the risk of hyperkalemia.
Side effects: Common reactions include dizziness, headache, fatigue, nausea, and musculoskeletal symptoms. Electrolyte abnormalities, hypotension, increased uric acid or glucose levels, and photosensitivity may occur.
