Indication & Scope
LiMeiTong® Eplerenone Tablets indicates for the treatment of essential hypertension in adults. It is also used for adjuvant treatment of congestive heart failure after myocardial infarction to improve ventricular remodeling and cardiac function prognosis.
- Mechanism: Eplerenone is a selective aldosterone receptor antagonist. It selectively blocks aldosterone binding to mineralocorticoid receptors, inhibits water and sodium reabsorption and potassium excretion, reduces blood volume and peripheral vascular resistance to lower blood pressure. It also inhibits myocardial interstitial fibrosis, improves ventricular remodeling after myocardial infarction and protects cardiac function.
- Drug class: Selective Mineralocorticoid Receptor Antagonist (MRA).
- Clinical use: Clinically used for long-term control of essential hypertension, and standardized adjuvant treatment of post-myocardial infarction congestive heart failure to reverse ventricular remodeling and reduce cardiovascular mortality.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: For hypertension: the usual initial dose is 50mg once daily, adjustable according to blood pressure response. For post-infarction heart failure: individualized low-dose gradual adjustment is adopted.
Time: Take orally once daily at a fixed time, with or without food.
Instructions for use: Take the tablet whole with water. Regular monitoring of blood potassium and renal function is required during medication. Dose adjustment must be guided by professional physicians.
Interaction: Combined use with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics significantly increases hyperkalemia risk. Strong CYP3A4 inhibitors will increase eplerenone blood concentration and cause adverse reactions. Combined with other antihypertensive drugs enhances hypotensive effect.
Side effects:
1. Common side effects include hyperkalemia, dizziness, fatigue and diarrhea.
2. Rare adverse reactions include hyponatremia, abnormal renal function, headache and gastrointestinal discomfort.
