Indication & Scope
ShengHan® is an oral second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate infections caused by susceptible bacteria, including respiratory tract infections, urinary tract infections, and skin and soft tissue infections.
- Mechanism: Cefaclor inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by binding to penicillin-binding proteins (PBPs), resulting in bacterial cell lysis and death.
- Drug class: Second-generation cephalosporin antibiotic.
- Clinical use: Treatment of susceptible bacterial infections such as pharyngitis, tonsillitis, otitis media, sinusitis, bronchitis, mild pneumonia, cystitis, and skin infections.
- Antibacterial spectrum: Active against many Gram-positive bacteria and selected Gram-negative bacteria including Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: Adults: 250 mg orally three times daily. Severe infections may require up to 500 mg three times daily.
Children: 20 mg/kg/day divided into 3 doses; severe infections up to 40 mg/kg/day.
Time: Take every 8 hours as prescribed.
Instructions for use: Dissolve in warm water before administration. Taking on an empty stomach may improve absorption. Complete the full antibiotic course.
Interaction: Probenecid may increase cefaclor exposure. Antacids containing aluminum or magnesium may reduce absorption. Monitor when used with warfarin.
Side effects: Common adverse reactions include diarrhea, nausea, abdominal discomfort, rash, and hypersensitivity reactions. Rare but serious reactions include anaphylaxis and Clostridioides difficile-associated diarrhea.
