Posaconazole inhibits fungal ergosterol synthesis to destroy fungal cell membrane. It has broad-spectrum bactericidal effect against Aspergillus, Candida and other invasive pathogenic fungi.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: For invasive aspergillosis (≥13y): Loading dose 300mg twice daily on Day 1; maintenance dose 300mg once daily starting Day 2, treatment course 6–12 weeks.
Time: Oral administration, swallow whole without crushing/chewing; can be taken with or without food.
Interaction: Strong CYP3A4 inhibitor; avoid concurrent use with cisapride, certain statins, midazolam, vinca alkaloids and venetoclax during dose escalation. Monitor blood levels of cyclosporine and tacrolimus closely if co-administered.
Side effects: Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, fever, headache, hypokalemia, elevated liver enzymes.
Important Notice
This product shall only be used for post-exposure rabies prophylaxis by professional medical staff. It must be applied combined with rabies vaccine and injected via wound infiltration plus intramuscular routes as specified. Do not administer intravenously or alter the dosage at will. Hypersensitivity monitoring is required throughout the whole injection process.

Can you just stop taking posaconazole?
Don’t stop taking the medication early even if you feel better since this can put you at risk for an infection that’s harder to treat.
Is posaconazole strong?
It has strong antifungal efficacy in phase II and III clinical trials in immunocompromised patients with oropharyngeal and esophageal candidiasis.
How long to take it?
For 13 days.
Does it affect the kidneys?
Regular monitoring of renal function may be necessary for patients on it to facilitate early identification of acute kidney injury which is reversible.
