Indication & Scope
Gentamicin Sulfate Injection is a prescription aminoglycoside antibiotic indicated for the treatment of susceptible serious bacterial infections caused primarily by Gram-negative organisms, including septicemia, lower respiratory tract infections, complicated urinary tract infections, intra-abdominal infections, pelvic infections, and skin and soft tissue infections. Intrathecal administration may be used as adjunctive therapy for meningitis or ventriculitis.

- Clinical use: Treatment of severe infections caused by susceptible Gram-negative bacteria and methicillin-susceptible Staphylococcus aureus (MSSA).
- Spectrum: Active against Escherichia coli, Klebsiella spp., Proteus spp., Enterobacter spp., Serratia spp., and Pseudomonas aeruginosa; inactive against streptococci and anaerobic bacteria when used alone.
