LiZhu® (Potassium Citrate Extended-release Tablets) is a prescription urinary alkalinizing agent indicated for the treatment and prevention of hypocitraturic calcium oxalate kidney stones, uric acid stones, and renal tubular acidosis associated with calcium nephrolithiasis.
- Mechanism: Increases urinary citrate and alkalinizes urine, reducing calcium stone formation and promoting dissolution of uric acid stones.
- Drug Class: Urinary Alkalinizing Agent / Citrate Preparation.
- Clinical Use: Long-term prevention and management of recurrent kidney stones associated with low urinary citrate or acidic urine.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: The usual starting dose is 30 mEq daily in divided doses with meals. Dosage should be adjusted according to urinary citrate and urine pH.
Time: Take with meals or within 30 minutes after meals, swallowing the tablet whole with water.
Instructions for use: Do not crush, chew, or split the tablet. Maintain adequate fluid intake throughout treatment.
Interaction: Avoid concomitant use with potassium-sparing diuretics, ACE inhibitors, ARBs, potassium supplements, or NSAIDs due to the risk of hyperkalemia.
Side effects: Common adverse reactions include nausea, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea, vomiting, and bloating. Hyperkalemia and gastrointestinal ulceration are rare but serious.
