urece dotinurad tablet 2mg per tablet 14tablets per blister per box

Description

 Indication & Scope

URECE® is a prescription selective urate transporter 1 (URAT1) inhibitor indicated for the treatment of adults with gout-associated hyperuricemia. By selectively inhibiting renal URAT1, dotinurad promotes urinary excretion of uric acid, lowers serum uric acid levels, and helps prevent recurrent gout attacks, urate crystal deposition, tophi formation, and uric acid-related kidney damage.

  • Mechanism: Dotinurad selectively inhibits the URAT1 transporter in the renal proximal tubules, reducing uric acid reabsorption and increasing urinary uric acid excretion.
  • Drug class: Selective URAT1 inhibitor (uricosuric agent).
  • Clinical use: Long-term management of hyperuricemia in adult patients with gout, particularly those with underexcretion of uric acid.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: The recommended starting dose is 1 mg once daily for 4 weeks, followed by 2 mg once daily if needed to achieve the target serum uric acid level. The maximum recommended dose is 4 mg once daily.

Time: Take orally once daily at the same time each day, with or without food.

Instructions for use: Swallow the tablet with water and maintain adequate hydration throughout treatment. Because gout attacks may occur during the initial stage of urate-lowering therapy, treatment should generally be continued, and prophylactic anti-inflammatory therapy may be considered.

Interaction: Use caution when combined with other uricosuric agents or diuretics due to an increased risk of kidney stones. Dotinurad may be used together with xanthine oxidase inhibitors such as febuxostat or allopurinol when clinically appropriate.

Side effects: Common adverse reactions include gout flare, increased liver enzymes, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, headache, dizziness, and kidney stones. Rare but serious reactions include severe hypersensitivity, liver injury, and acute kidney injury.

FAQ

What is URECE® used for?

URECE® is used to lower serum uric acid levels in adults with gout-associated hyperuricemia.

Can URECE® trigger gout attacks at the beginning of treatment?

Yes. Temporary gout flares may occur during the early phase of urate-lowering therapy as urate crystals begin to dissolve.

Should patients drink more water while taking URECE®?

Yes. Adequate hydration helps increase urinary uric acid excretion and reduces the risk of kidney stone formation.

Can URECE® be combined with febuxostat or allopurinol?

Yes. Combination therapy may be considered for patients who require additional uric acid lowering.
