Indication & Scope
Varsal® is a prescription topical fluoroquinolone antibacterial gel indicated for the treatment of susceptible superficial bacterial skin infections, including folliculitis, furuncles, impetigo, infected cuts and abrasions, and secondary bacterial infections associated with dermatitis or eczema. It may also be used to help prevent bacterial infection in minor burns and superficial wounds.
- Mechanism: Ofloxacin inhibits bacterial DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV, preventing bacterial DNA replication and resulting in rapid bactericidal activity.
- Drug class: Topical fluoroquinolone antibacterial.
- Clinical use: Treatment and prevention of susceptible superficial skin bacterial infections.

How to use ?
Recommended Dose: Apply a thin layer to the affected area twice daily.
Time: The usual treatment duration is 5–7 days.
Instructions for use: Clean and dry the affected area before application. For external use only. Avoid contact with the eyes, mucous membranes, and extensive open wounds.
Interaction: Avoid simultaneous use with other topical antibiotics or photosensitizing agents on the same treatment area unless directed by a physician.
Side effects: Common adverse reactions include mild burning, itching, redness, dryness, and skin irritation. Rare reactions include allergic reactions and photosensitivity.
