 Indication & Scope

Ifosfamide is an inactive prodrug activated in the liver. Active metabolites crosslink DNA strands to block tumour cell replication and induce cell death.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: Reconstitute and dilute for intravenous infusion, dosage calculated according to body surface area. Mesna must be co-administered to prevent urotoxicity.

 

Time: Intravenous infusion, typically administered for consecutive 5 days per treatment cycle; repeat every 3–4 weeks.

 

Instructions for use: For intravenous infusion only; concomitant mesna and adequate hydration are mandatory to avoid bladder injury. Monitor complete blood count, renal and hepatic function regularly during therapy. Effective contraception is required for patients of childbearing age.

 

Interaction: Combination with other myelosuppressive chemotherapy increases haematological toxicity risk. Concurrent nephrotoxic agents may aggravate renal injury. Live vaccines are contraindicated.

 

Side effects: Myelosuppression, nausea, vomiting, alopecia, haemorrhagic cystitis.
