Indication & Scope

Meioupin® is a prescription antimuscarinic ophthalmic solution indicated for slowing the progression of myopia in children aged 6 to 12 years with a spherical equivalent refractive error of -1.00 D to -4.00 D, astigmatism ≤1.50 D, and anisometropia <1.50 D.

Mechanism: Atropine sulfate is a non-selective muscarinic receptor antagonist that inhibits muscarinic receptor activity in ocular tissues. Low-dose atropine is believed to slow axial elongation and reduce myopia progression while minimizing effects on accommodation and pupil dilation.
Drug class: Antimuscarinic agent; Myopia control therapy.
Clinical use: Slowing the progression of myopia in eligible pediatric patients.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: Instill one drop into each affected eye once daily at bedtime.

Time: Administer once every evening before bedtime. Treatment should be continued under the supervision of an ophthalmologist with regular follow-up examinations.

Instructions for use: For ophthalmic use only. Meioupin® is supplied in preservative-free single-dose containers intended for one-time use only. After instillation, gently press the inner corner of the eye near the tear duct for approximately 2–3 minutes to reduce systemic absorption. Remove soft contact lenses before administration and wait at least 15 minutes before reinsertion. When used with other ophthalmic medications, allow an interval of at least 15 minutes between applications.

Interaction: No clinically significant drug interactions have been established following topical ophthalmic administration. Caution should be exercised when used with other anticholinergic medications because additive antimuscarinic effects may occur.

Side effects: Common adverse reactions include mydriasis, photophobia, blurred near vision, mild conjunctival hyperemia, ocular irritation, and allergic eyelid dermatitis. Less common systemic reactions include facial flushing, dry mouth, dry skin, mild tachycardia, headache, and dizziness. Rare cases of systemic atropine toxicity have been reported following excessive exposure.
