Indication & Scope

Madam Pearl’s® is an over-the-counter mucolytic indicated for the treatment of productive cough associated with acute and chronic bronchitis accompanied by thick, difficult-to-expectorate sputum. It helps loosen bronchial secretions and promotes mucus clearance to improve airway function.

Mechanism: Ambroxol hydrochloride stimulates serous secretion in the respiratory tract, reduces sputum viscosity, enhances ciliary activity, and promotes the production of pulmonary surfactant, facilitating the clearance of mucus.
Drug Class: Mucolytic Expectorant.
Clinical Use: Relief of productive cough and difficult sputum expectoration associated with acute and chronic bronchitis.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: Adults and children over 12 years should take 10 mL three times daily for the first 2–3 days, followed by 10 mL twice daily. Children aged 6–12 years should take 5 mL two to three times daily, and children aged 2–5 years should take 2.5 mL three times daily.

Time: It is recommended to take the medicine after meals to reduce gastrointestinal discomfort.

Instructions for use: Measure the prescribed dose with a suitable measuring device before administration. Maintain adequate fluid intake during treatment to facilitate mucus clearance. Do not exceed the recommended dosage. Consult a healthcare professional if symptoms persist for more than 7 days.

Interaction: No clinically significant harmful drug interactions have been established. Concomitant use with antibiotics may increase antibiotic concentrations in lung tissue. Avoid concurrent use with central antitussive agents, as suppression of the cough reflex may impair sputum clearance.

Side effects: Common adverse reactions include mild gastrointestinal discomfort, nausea, vomiting, dyspepsia, diarrhea, headache, dizziness, and skin rash. Rare hypersensitivity reactions, including angioedema and severe cutaneous adverse reactions, have been reported.
