Description
Indication & Scope
LeLing® (Aciclovir Gel) is a topical antiviral indicated for the treatment of herpes simplex virus infections of the skin and mucous membranes, including herpes labialis and genital herpes. It inhibits viral DNA replication in infected cells, helping reduce the progression of herpetic lesions and associated local symptoms such as blisters, burning, itching, and discomfort.
- Mechanism: Aciclovir is selectively phosphorylated in herpesvirus-infected cells and subsequently inhibits viral DNA polymerase, interfering with viral DNA synthesis and replication.
- Drug class: Nucleoside analogue antiviral.
- Clinical use: Topical treatment of localized herpes simplex skin and mucosal infections, particularly herpes labialis and genital herpes.
