Description

 Indication & Scope

A compound Chinese herbal medicine traditionally described as soothing the liver, harmonizing the stomach, dispersing blood stasis and relieving spasmodic pain. It is marketed for symptomatic treatment associated with chronic gastritis and related upper-abdominal symptoms.

Its traditional therapeutic actions are described as harmonizing the liver and stomach, dispersing blood stasis and relieving pain. The formulation contains belladonna extract, which has anticholinergic activity and may account for some of the characteristic adverse effects such as dry mouth, constipation and blurred vision.
  • Drug class: Traditional Chinese medicine compound; OTC (non-prescription) medicine.
  • Clinical use: Symptomatic treatment of chronic gastritis with epigastric pain, hypochondrial pain, belching and acid regurgitation corresponding to the stated TCM pattern.
