vitamin b1 tablets

Description

 Indication & Scope

Vitamin B1 Tablets are an oral vitamin preparation containing 10 mg of thiamine per tablet. Thiamine is an essential water-soluble vitamin involved in carbohydrate metabolism and normal nervous and digestive system function.

  • Mechanism: Thiamine is converted to active thiamine pyrophosphate, an essential coenzyme in several carbohydrate and energy-metabolism reactions. Adequate thiamine supports normal neuronal function; deficiency can cause beriberi and peripheral neuritis.
  • Drug class: Vitamin preparation; vitamin B1/thiamine supplement; OTC medicine.
  • Clinical use: Used for prevention and treatment of vitamin B1 deficiency, particularly deficiency-associated beriberi and neuritis. It may also be used when digestive symptoms such as poor appetite or indigestion are associated with vitamin B1 deficiency.
