Indication & Scope

TaiJia® (Clopidogrel Bisulfate Tablets) is a prescription antiplatelet medicine used to prevent atherothrombotic events in patients with myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, peripheral arterial disease, and acute coronary syndrome.

Mechanism: Clopidogrel is a prodrug whose active metabolite selectively inhibits platelet ADP receptors, thereby inhibiting platelet aggregation and thrombus formation.
Drug class: P2Y12 platelet inhibitor.
Clinical use: Secondary prevention after myocardial infarction or ischemic stroke, peripheral arterial disease, and acute coronary syndrome, including selected patients undergoing coronary stenting.

How to use ?

Recommended Dose: Adults generally take 75 mg once daily (3 tablets of 25 mg). For acute coronary syndrome, a 300 mg loading dose may be given, followed by 75 mg once daily with aspirin; patients aged 75 years or older should generally not receive a loading dose. For previous myocardial infarction, ischemic stroke, or peripheral arterial disease, use 75 mg once daily. Children and adolescents are not recommended due to insufficient clinical experience.

Time: Once daily; may be taken with or without food.

Instructions for use: Take regularly at approximately the same time each day. Do not discontinue treatment without medical advice because interruption may increase thrombotic risk. Inform the physician before surgery or invasive procedures because clopidogrel increases bleeding risk.

Interaction: Concomitant use with warfarin, heparins, or NSAIDs may increase bleeding risk. Omeprazole may reduce the antiplatelet effect of clopidogrel and should generally be avoided when possible.

Side effects: Bleeding is the most important adverse reaction and may include epistaxis, gastrointestinal bleeding, bruising, hematuria, or, rarely, severe intracranial or gastrointestinal bleeding. Other reactions include diarrhea, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, rash, itching, headache, dizziness, and hematologic abnormalities.
